It is with a great deal of persuasion from a lot of people that I have finally decided to Blog. I think that it is going to be a great deal easier to discuss a subject or even make a comment to several people at one time rather than sending individual emails. As most of my followers would know, I posted a website several years ago which is still active (www.trinihindu.faithweb.com). Even though the site can do with an upgrade, there are lots of people who still visit it.
I continue to receive emails commending me on the effort and a lot of emails requesting information on various subjects. I have not been able to answer several of them for reasons relating to time constraints. Nevertheless, I am more than happy to have received such an overwhelming response. The website presented me with several challenges, a lot of which depended on research. While it was quite rewarding, I was later informed that some of the information posted was being copied and distributed by others as if it was work done by them. Actually, there were a couple instances of plagiarism. Interestingly, I received an email from a follower in South Africa one day and he volunteered to contact a couple people about the incident. The end result was that I got apologetic emails from the individuals in question and all was well after that. The positive side of that was that I now had a following in South Africa which is something I never expected.
The website started out as a novice idea and blossomed into something that I just could not have terminated or removed from the web. As a matter of fact it was the first of its kind coming out of Trinidad. Surprisingly, I have had good feedback from Hindus from several parts of the world including North America, Australia, England, Fiji, Guyana and even a handful from India. The result is that Hindus from all over the world have been visiting my website.
Some years back I purchased a domain and have since parked it. Hopefully, one of these days when time allows it, I will launch a new website. As you would probably know, with freely sponsored sites you can’t stop the advertisements hence, the reason for advertisements on my existing website. In addition with a new website I would most likely be looking at content that is more suited for a global audience.
I am not making promises as to how frequent I will be posting updates on my blog but I assure you all that I will do the best I can.
Happy New Year and all the best for 2011!!!
